The names, email addresses, and other personal details entered on the journal website are used solely for the stated purposes of journal operation, including manuscript submission, peer review, editorial communication, and publication.
Such information will not be made available for any other purpose and will not be disclosed to third parties, except where required by law or with the explicit consent of the user.
Privacy Statement Regarding Third-Party Authentication (OAuth, Google, and ORCID)
Introduction
NJOT provides optional third-party authentication methods to facilitate secure and convenient access to the journal’s online submission and review system. This section explains how limited personal information may be processed when authors or reviewers choose to use these services.
Use of third-party authentication is entirely optional. Users may always access the system using standard username and password authentication.
Information Collection and Use
When a user elects to log in via a third-party authentication service (such as Google via OpenID or ORCID), NJOT receives only the minimum information required to authenticate the user and associate the external identity with an existing or new journal account.
This information typically includes:
- a verified email address, and
- a unique identifier provided by the authentication service.
NJOT does not access user passwords for third-party services and does not receive access to private content stored on external platforms.
Login Options
Users may choose any of the following login methods:
- Standard login using a journal-specific username and password
- Google authentication via OpenID (optional)
- ORCID authentication (optional)
The choice of authentication method does not affect editorial evaluation, peer review, or publication decisions.
Use of Information
Personal information collected through the journal website or via third-party authentication is used exclusively for:
- user authentication and account management,
- editorial and peer-review communication, and
- administration of journal operations.
NJOT does not use personal information for marketing or unrelated purposes.
Data Sharing and Disclosure
NJOT does not share personal information with third parties except:
- where required to comply with legal obligations,
- to protect the rights, safety, or integrity of the journal and its users, or
- where explicit consent has been provided by the user.
Data Security
Reasonable technical and organisational measures are in place to protect personal data against unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. Access to personal information is restricted to authorised editorial and technical personnel who require such access for legitimate journal operations and who are bound by confidentiality obligations.
